We’ve been very quiet and haven’t updated you on the game development side for some time, aside from a few images posted on Facebook.
Lunar New Year-year of the rat-has come and we want to take this opportunity to shed some light on our current progress, giving you a sneak-peek of what we’ve been working on. We plan to post this sort of dev letter more often so stay around!
The addition of Dawn
Dawn is your character’s other self, that was separated from you after you were cursed by Demon. He/she accompanies your journey and plays a key role in regaining your memory. Still in early production but we are quite excited about all different possibilities we can get out of with the addition of Dawn.
Renovating the 1st chapter
In the last alpha, we focused more on giving each map unique personalities to it in terms of stories, looks, mood, and people living in them. However, they had little relation to your journey to regain your memory. The new version we are working on right now will focus more on that early in the game. This was also the main reason why the next Alpha test was pushed back.
Butterfly of Abyss
Remember how time-consuming it was to travel back to a town in the last alpha test? That’s why we came up with the idea of Butterfly of Abyss. On it, you can fly to a specific location, usually a town. The bar for Butterfly of Abyss is filled by killing monsters. When it’s full, you can open the map and select a location to travel, usually near a town. It makes traveling in Mad World a lot more efficient.
Pets in Mad World mean more than just your ride, instead, they will feel more like your companion. How you train yours will determine what kind of a pet it will grow up to be from a pub to a full-grown.
More facial expressions
To better convey the emotions linked with your character’s action, and the circumstance it’s in, we’ve decided to add more facial expressions. You can expect to see them, when you talk to NPCs, perform skills or do character poses. We are quite excited about this and can’t wait to show them in-game!
